Book Of Centuries: floral

Instead of a large timeline on your walls, give your students their own Book of Centuries! This tradition comes from the educational philosophy of Charlotte Mason, a British educator in the turn of the 20th century. Students will record people, places, and events that they come across during their readings in all subjects like history, geography, science, and more. When a student learns about an important event they are able to find the corresponding page and make a notation with text and/or drawings in their personal book. This book stays with them through their education. Some families prefer to keep a family book in the younger grades but once a student is in 5th grade they can begin keeping their own records. This Book of Centuries is formatted so students can add pictures/illustrations on the left side of the page and add text to the fields for each year division on the right side of the page. Just as each student is unique and individual, their Book of Centuries collection will be unique to them. Personalizing their books has the benefit of retention and relationship to events in history around the world.
