PAESS: Providing Psychological, Academic, Emotional, and Social Support to Gifted and High-Achieving Students: A research based Guide-Book for Parents and Professionals

This guidebook discusses the importance of providing gifted and high-achieving students psychological, academic, emotional, and social support (PAESS). It is based on an honor thesis research paper from a college senior at Manchester University (class of 2024), with 99 participants identified as gifted or high-achieving by the 6th grade. The findings support the importance of PAESS for these students’ overall achievement and well-being, including the significance of musical abilities and talent development and discussion on perceived heritability. It also discusses the implications of these findings for educators and parents and suggests directions for future research.
