Aaron Schatz’s FTN Football Almanac 2024: The Essential Guide to the 2024 NFL Season

The most authoritative and innovative annual guide to the NFL (formerly known as “”Football Outsiders Almanac””) is back for an all-new season with more cutting-edge statistical analysis, obsessive film study, and trademark humor. Includes comprehensive coverage of all 32 NFL teams, analysis of offseason personnel changes, and over 300 fantasy football projections. With numerous statistical measures that go far beyond standard NFL stats, Aaron Schatz’s FTN Football Almanac 2024 gives NFL fans the kind of sabermetric-like statistical analysis that revolutionized the fan’s understanding of baseball. It’s also written with a knowing dry wit that gets under the skin of America’s most popular spectator sport. Groundbreaking team and player DVOA ratings that adjust for situation and opponent to reveal which offenses and defenses are truly superior, and which players really help win games. Exclusive FTN Data charting, unavailable in standard NFL stats, tells you which quarterbacks benefit the most from yards after catch or play best under pressure; which teams most often blitz or run specific offensive formations; and which defensive backs stop the other team’s passing game, measured by pass coverage on every single play rather than just tackles. Data on how receivers performed based on where they lined up before the snap: wide, tight, in the slot, or in the backfield. NEW FOR 2024: Innovative new DVOA stats that track receivers by routes rather than just targets and measure defensive back coverage based on all coverage snaps. Detailed information on each team’s performance in 2023 by offensive and defensive personnel package. Detailed individual stats for offensive linemen and defensive players. Extensive coverage of all 32 teams with week-by-week stats from the 2023 season, five-year performance trends, and analysis of off-season personnel changes. Exclusive 2024 predictions that give the odds on each team as a Super Bowl contender … or a contender for the top pick in the 2025 NFL draft. 2024 fantasy football projections for more than 300 skill position players from FTN’s award-winning Jeff Ratcliffe. “”Football is not a hard science. Therefore, neither is football analytics … You need stats with more detail and care, analyzed with more humility and nuance. You need to recognize their quality, value and limitations. We appreciate FTN because they’re among the best stats providers at accounting for this. They incorporate factors that some others don’t, leading to predictions and reports that some other methods can’t. They’re a helpful resource for anyone who enjoys thinking deeper and smarter about the sport.”” — John Harbaugh, Head Coach of the Baltimore Ravens “”Every summer, this book is my bible; it offers unique insights into all 32 teams’ rosters and tendencies, as well as sharp analysis of league-wide trends. For serious fans of the game, FTN Football Almanac is indispensable.”” — Mina Kimes, ESPN “”A book that any self-respecting NFL fan needs to purchase.”” — Bill Simmons, The Ringer.com “”Exhausting, enlightening, surprising in many cases, and an absolute must-read if you like the NFL.”” — Peter King, NFL Media Legend “”An essential part of my preseason prep and one of the most thorough and insightful pieces of work examining the league.””– Robert Mays, The Athletic “”It’s important for you, the working football fan, to know more about football than other football fans. FTN Football Almanac will give you all the background knowledge you need to make your football-watching companions feel uninformed and inadequate.”” — Drew Magary, Defector Media — ASIN: B0D9FC4HXL | ISBN13: 9798332564321 | ISBN-13: 979-8332564321
