Pause Power: Learning to Stay Calm When Your Buttons Get Pushed (Gabe’s Stories)

Uh-oh! Gabe is losing it again. See all those big, bright buttons popping up all over his body? They come out whenever someone or some situation gets under his skin. And they pop up ALL. THE. TIME. Push this button and Gabe starts fighting. Push that button and Gabe starts yelling. Push any button, and Gabe overreacts, gets mad, makes poor choices and lands in trouble. What he really needs is a reset button! Young readers will learn how to use PAUSE POWER to reset their mindset, calm down and stop losing control when others push their buttons. It’s a great lesson and fun read for children in grades K-6. Tips for parents and educators to help children managing their emotions when they become angry and to raise self-awareness in themselves are included at the end of the picture book. A clever tale from school counselor and author Jennifer Law about Gabe, a young boy navigating school life. Her stories include Pause Power – Learning to stay calm when your buttons get pushed. Practicing Patience – How to wait patiently when your body doesn’t want to. “Get. This. Book. I love that the story shows multiple examples of the character struggling with calming himself in frustrating situations. The story didn’t say, ‘if you use pause power you won’t feel frustrated ever again!’ It was more, ‘you’re going to be frustrated, but pause power can help you to react differently and avoid hurting others.’ I’ve even caught myself noticing when my buttons are being pushed and I need to pause and breathe. So basically, I’ll stop reading all these 200+ page self-help books and stick to kids’ books for my self-improvement 😂😂” – Alex R., Verified Purchaser “The lesson of this story has the potential to lessen so much trouble in the world. I find myself remembering (and imitating) the look of calm on Gabe’s face at end of the story when I’m annoyed with traffic. I look forward to reading more books by Jennifer Law. She has a knack for teaching important skills in a fun way.” – John L., Purchaser — ASIN: 1944882499 | ISBN13: 9781944882495 | ISBN-13: 978-1944882495
